Randomly dried up during sex?

My boyfriend at I were going at each other; I was adjectives riled up and turned as was he; but when we began having sex I illogically dried up 'down there'. We tried for a while but then we had to stop because it was hurting me and be no good for him. This isn't the first time we've had sex but it IS the first time this has happen. ....Why?
