The HPV test will follow (reflex) a Pap exam that has shown abnormal cell changes of the cervix. The HPV assessment only confirms you have one or more of the high risk HPV types that 'could' in need treatment could progress. The HPV test will not see a virus of the cervix when it is in a low viral load and the HPV does not blind for low risk HPV types of the cervix.
Commonly you are screened for high risk HPV types of the cervix after an abnormal pap assessment. Many people carry an HPV type with no ocular signs or no abnormal cell changes of the cervix.
A visual examination using vinegar may show small warts of the genital area….but this is not an HPV test.
The HPV test does not blind the vulva or outer area of the genital area.
There is No FDA approved HPV test for the masculine.
HPV screening is not done in any STI screening.
