It's made out of medical-grade silicone and it's shaped like a bell - sort of. To insert it you fold it up, insert it into your vagina, grab the bed of the cup, spin it around a few times so it opens up, and then you're done! It never leak because it has a suction protection seal and near is no pesky string for you to pee on. The divacup will collect your blood instead of absorbing it, so when you take it out you dump it into the toilet or sink, wash it, and re-insert. It may nouns gross at first, but I promise that they are so much better than tampons and that they really aren't as messy as it sounds. I currently switched to the divacup last summer and I absolutely love it! I'm a young-looking teen and a virgin so inserting it was really difficult at first, but after practicing with it for a week or two I be able to insert it with make less burdensome just in time to try it out near my period. for people next to heavy flows, i would sugest playtex sport super. because its for sports, its a little bi.gger than other tampons. also thattampax open straight and playtex opens with 360 degree, and it has a backup layer. I use this brand and i enjoy never had a leak! i usto use tampax and i allways feel it in me, when i switched to playtex, i could hardly have a feeling it in me. so the comfort was a plus. I ponder it could be from the size. But when that happens to me, Its because I didnt put it in far adequate, but maybe thats not the problem, I would just experiment next to putting it in different ways.
